First Person Terror F.E.A.R
F.E.A.R is a game that I have wanted to talk about for a while and it is a game that is all about first person shooter action, but it also mixes in plenty of horror as well. This was made at a time when The Ring and movies about creepy little kids were the in thing so that is kind of what you are getting with F.E.A.R.
The story of the game is actually really cool and in all honesty, it was the story more than the first person action that intrigued me about the game before it was released. You play as a soldier who is part of a special forces unit that deals with paranormal threats. You are sent to investigate what went wrong at a “facility” only to discover that there is this creepy girl called Alma who has some psychic abilities and of course some connections to your character.
I really do not want to say too much about the story of F.E.A.R as it is full of many twists and turns and it is very exciting and I think if you love horror you will have a lot of fun with it. the first person shooter action is also pretty cool and solid. You have what is called reflex time which allows you to slow the world around down. This is not only very cool to use, but it comes in very handy against some of the tougher enemies.
I played this back on the PlayStation 3, but I have heard that the PC version is the best. F.E.A.R was followed up by two sequels and strangely I have not played either of them! Which is weird considering how much I loved the first game, well I guess I better get on eBay and track them down as I want to see how this story played out.
