Looking At Black Ops 4’s Microtransactions
Microtransactions are a real dirty word in the world of gaming and we all knew that they were coming to Call of Duty Black Ops IIII. There is not really any triple-A game these days that does not ask you to put your hand back in your pocket to pay for some kind of extra content.
Black Ops IIII though has come under fire by some media outlets for the way it is handling its Microtransactions. To be fair I do not think the way Microtransactions and the tiers system that Black Ops IIII has is that unfair. Sure the grind can be pretty brutal if you do not want to spend money, but is this any different from a game like Fortnite? Games like this will always try and tempt you to spend a few bucks here and there instead of grinding.
Look at the mess that was Star Wars Battlefront II last year, I do not think Black Ops IIII is anywhere near that kind of level. I do though think that as the items are just cosmetics there is no need at all for people to be spending crazy amounts of money trying to get all of the tiers and to be honest with you, I do not actually think that any of the cosmetic items they have given us so far are all that great anyway.
I know it is easy to look at the grind and say that they are just trying to get more money out of you and truth be told they are. However, I have had a blast with Black Ops IIII, moved up plenty of tiers and I have not spent a penny since the game launched and nor do I intend too.
